OUR STORY

We go all the way back to the 90s

The Porterhouse was founded in Dublin back in the mid-90s, opening their iconic site in Temple Bar in 1996. We opened here in Covent Garden in 2000. Since then, we have been pouring pints of our award-winning craft beers, showcasing some of London’s best live music and screening all major sporting events, particularly rugby, to customers from all over the world. We are still family owned and family run and proud to be independent.

We might be one of the largest bars in London, but it does not always feel that way. The bar is split over three main floors, with a number of mezzanine levels in between, as well as boasting one of Central London’s largest beer gardens.

Let the fast pace of London pass you by as you sit and drink a pint of Plain Porter, sip on a cocktail, watch your favourite team in action on one of the many screens or dance the night away to the live band.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Quality is our priority

There’s lots to choose from here at The Porterhouse and we take great pride in offering you the highest quality food and drinks.

We have over 30 taps pouring a vast selection of craft beer, with many more options available in bottle and can. We also have a large selection of gin, an eclectic cocktail list and a great collection of Irish whiskey.

Our menu offers pub staples like Fish & Chips and Burgers, alongside pizzas and other dishes great for sharing. We have plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available. And Sunday is all about our fabulous homemade roasts!

Live music every Thursday, Friday & Saturday and sport events

We have live music in our Basement Bar every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Our house bands play mainly rock and pop covers from the 60’s through to the current day. We show all major sporting events, from football to tennis.

But, we really like to think of ourselves as a rugby pub. And clearly our customers do too! The Six Nations tournament always brings a big crowd and with 18 screens around the venue, no one misses a second of the action. We’re already looking forward to the Lions Tour in 2025. Of course, being Irish owned, we are also dedicated to showing the GAA.

With our strong focus on beer, we have regular tap takeovers and host several beer festivals throughout the year. Our German Beer Festival every October is not to be missed!
